Our heritage

1932
‘P&B Engineering Company’ is established, Crawley, UK

1944
P&B pioneers the development of their P&B GOLD Electromechanical Thermal Overload Relay for Motor Protection, which today remains in service throughout the world. The P&B brand is firmly established as the Motor Protection Relay specialists.

1951
‘WM Shakeshaft Ltd’ is established, Manchester, UK

1954
‘Weir Electrical Instrument Company’ is established, Corsham, UK

1986
PBSI Group Ltd is formed with the merger of P&B Engineering Company and WM Shakeshaft Ltd

1992
PBSI Group acquires the Weir Electrical Instrument Company strengthening its offering of earthing and safety equipment with Weir’s instruments and protection relay range.

1997
P&B Relay production moves from Crawley and consolidates with the Manchester site

1998
Launch of Supervision range of Intelligent relays

2002
Supervision range revised as Vision

2003
Builds new 11,000 square foot switchgear factory

2007
P&B celebrates its 75^th Birthday at Gorton Monastery a UNESCO heritage site

2008
P&B invest 500,000 GBP into new in-house production equipment

2010
Using Vision, P&B Introduce a range of retrofit protection relays for older P&B relays

2011
P&B Launch the VOR-M retrofit, a vacuum medium voltage circuit breaker to replace old oil gear

2012
Reaches export milestone of 50,000 Motorvision relays

P&B installs an office in Muscat, Oman
