About Us

PBSI was formed in 1986 through the merging of business interests of 'The P&B Engineering Company Ltd' of Crawley, East Sussex and 'WM Shakeshaft Ltd' of Manchester.

In 1992 'The Weir Electrical Instrument Company' was acquired and the business activities arranged into four trading divisions.

P&B was established in 1932, Shakeshaft in 1951 and Weir in 1954.

All three of the original companies have long established and respected pedigrees having supplied their products world wide.

P&B was most notable in its pioneering development of the Electromechanical Thermal Overload Relay for Motor Protection, many of which are still in service today. Establishing itself as a brand, P&B are still regarded as the motor protection relay specialist.

Today, PBSI remain at the forefront of technology by investing in UK manufacturing, designing and supplying well engineered solutions and continuing to supply equipment to many countries.
